The Logistics Roundtable gathers together key minds in the logistics industry and will include representatives from both the public and private sectors. This Roundtable will be moderated by Caroline Mays where topics such as  supply chain disruptions, driver shortages, EV, and CAV will be discussed along with an opportunity for audience Q&A.

Caroline Mays

Director, Planning and Modal Programs, TxDOT

Caroline Mays joined the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)  in  late  2012  and  has  held  several  positions  including,  Statewide  Freight  Coordinator,  Freight  Planning  Branch  Manager,  Director  of  Freight,  and  International  Trade/Border  Section,  Director  of  Freight,  Trade  and  Connectivity,  and  currently  serves  as  the  Director  of  Planning and Modal Programs.

She is charged with directing and overseeing all planning activities of the Texas Department of  Transportation  (TxDOT)  through  a  comprehensive  systems  approach,  ensuring  the  implementation  of  a  robust  multimodal, multidisciplinary, innovative, and consensus-oriented planning process. She is responsible for directingand  overseeing  Planning  and  Modal  Programs;  Aviation,  Maritime,  Public  Transportation,  Rail,  and  Transportation  Planning and Programing. Ms. Mays is a member of the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Certified Planners. She serves  as  the  Vice-Chair  of  the Association  of  American  State  Highway  Transportation  Official’s  (AASHTO)   Special Committee  on  Freight  and  is  a  member  of  the  Transportation  Research  Board’s  (TRB)  Planning  and  Logistics Committee. Ms. Mays serves on the World Road Association (PIARC) Technical Committee on Freight.

Ms. Mays holds a Bachelor’s degree in urban and Regional Planning from the University of Waterloo, Canada and a Master’s degree of Science in Planning from the University of Toronto, Canada.

Griff Lynch

Executive Director, Georgia Ports Authority

Griff Lynch is the Executive Director of the Georgia Ports Authority, a 1,400-person strong state authority that owns and operates strategic port terminals serving American commerce.

As Executive Director, Lynch oversees the nation’s third-busiest gateway for containerized trade and second-busiest auto port complex in Savannah and Brunswick, respectively. In addition, Griff oversees GPA’s two inland terminals in South and Northwest Georgia. Together, these facilities form one of the largest economic engines in the U.S. Southeast.

As a proven leader in the maritime industry, Lynch brings 30 years of operational and commercial experience to his role. He currently resides with his family in Savannah, GA.

Rebecca Brewster

President and Chief Operating Officer, American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI)

Rebecca Brewster is President and Chief Operating Officer of the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI).  ATRI is the trucking industry’s not-for-profit research organization, whose mission is research to improve the trucking industry’s safety and productivity.

Rebecca is the recipient of several awards including Fleet Owner magazine’s 2016 Dozen Outstanding Women in Trucking, the 2013 Influential Woman in Trucking award from the Women in Trucking Association, and the 2010 J.R. Bob Halladay award given by the 50 state trucking associations.

Rebecca has been with ATRI for over 29 years.  Prior to that, she was the Public and Governmental Affairs Director for the Cary, North Carolina Chamber of Commerce and a Fleet Analyst with Moen, Inc.  Rebecca has a B.A. in English from Wofford College, and she is a Fellow of the North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership.

Jannine Miller

Director of Planning, Georgia Department of Transportation

Jannine Miller is the Director of Planning at the Georgia Department of Transportation, serving on the Executive Leadership Team alongside Commissioner Russell McMurry. She was appointed to the position by Governor Brian Kemp and confirmed by the General Assembly in June 2020. In this role, Ms. Miller is responsible for the short-term and long-range planning and investment strategy of Georgia’s State and Federal transportation funds for roads and bridges.

Highlights of Ms. Miller’s 18-year career in transportation infrastructure include serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary and Senior Advisor to Secretary Elaine Chao at the U.S. Department of Transportation, working directly with Federal transportation operating and financing offices. Ms. Miller also served as Senior Advisor to U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, responsible for programs and policies related to rural infrastructure development and financing. Prior to her service in the Federal government, Ms. Miller in several other roles in the public and private sectors, including was Director of the Center of Innovation for Logistics at the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Senior Manager of Supply Chain Finance at The Home Depot, Executive Director of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, and Senior Planner at the Atlanta Regional Commission.

Ms. Miller is also serving as chair of the Infrastructure Committee of Electric Mobility and Innovation Alliance, an initiative of Governor Kemp and the Georgia Department of Transportation. Ms. Miller holds a Master of Business Administration in Global Commerce from Georgia Tech, a Master of Public Administration from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Nutrition.

David Weaver

Manager, Advanced Technology &Innovation, FedEx Corporation

David Weaver is Manager, Advanced Technology & Innovation at FedEx Corporation, a $79B global transportation service provider. As a leader of the FedEx Corporation, Mr. Weaver is responsible for accelerating operational efficiencies and customer experience through advance technology innovations including business applications in the autonomous vehicle space.

Mr. Weaver is an experienced leader with more than 16 years of experience in emerging technology R&D, logistics operations, Quality, customer experience strategy, statistical data analysis, and engineering functions. David oversees key pick up and delivery autonomous vehicle initiatives at the enterprise level, evaluating emerging technologies on a regular basis to inform R&D investments to improve operational efficiency, safety, and customer experience.

David holds an International MBA and B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering degrees from the University of Memphis.

Dr. Aravind Kailas

Advanced Technology Policy Director, Volvo Group North America

Dr. Aravind Kailas is the Advanced Technology Policy Director at Volvo Group North America, where he oversees policy development and public affairs campaigns to further Volvo’s interests in automation, connectivity, and electromobility. Dr. Kailas incorporates political risk and intelligence analysis to drive high visibility initiatives for the Group and grew Volvo’s influence in California. He spearheaded the infrastructure deployment for introducing Volvo’s Class 8 battery-electric trucks in North America and successfully advocated for federal and state policies to develop the market for zero-emission heavy-duty trucks, buses, and off-road vehicles in the U.S.

Dr. Kailas is also an Instructor at California State University Long Beach and has previously held positions at Charlotte, QUALCOMM, DOCOMO Innovations, and General Electric. Author of over 100 publications and quoted in many media outlets, Dr. Kailas has served on several R&D and technology panels, and advisory boards of non-profit organizations. His work has been recognized with numerous accolades, including awards from TRB, SAE, and IEEE. He has earned degrees in Applied Mathematics and Electrical and Computer Engineering from Wisconsin and Georgia Tech.

D’Andrae Larry

Group Vice President - Automotive, Norfolk Southern Corporation

D’Andrae C. Larry is the Group Vice President for Automotive at Norfolk Southern Corporation, one of the nation’s premier transportation companies.

He joined the company in 2020. In this role, D’Andrae leads the railroad’s strategy for transporting finished vehicles and parts for Norfolk Southern, the largest direct access to automotive manufacturing franchise in North America.

Norfolk Southern connects customers to markets and communities to economic opportunity, with safe, reliable, and sustainable shipping solutions. The company’s network spans 22 states, and every major container port in the eastern United States.

Larry is a seasoned railroader with more than 25 years of industry experience. Prior to his current role Larry headed Norfolk Southern’ s International Intermodal group.  Prior to joining Norfolk Southern, he served with BNSF Railroad, one of seven North American Class 1 railroads. During his tenure with BNSF, he held senior sales leadership roles leading high performance sales teams in various business units including bulk and industrial products. Larry started his railroad career in field operations, managing intermodal terminals.

Larry earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and a Masters’ degree in Transportation from the University of Denver.
